- 01
Golf R log book service
VW 508.00 spec oil, correct filters, ODIS service reset, log book stamped. Every interval covered — 15k, 30k, 60k.
- 02
DSG mechatronic service
The DQ250 (Mk7) and DQ381 (Mk7.5/Mk8) both need fluid on interval. Real change, correct fluid, filter replaced — not just a top-up.
- 03
Timing chain tensioner
EA888 gen3 chain tensioner is a known weak point on earlier variants. We inspect on service and fit the updated part where required.
- 04
PCV & waterpump
PCV diaphragms fail; waterpumps develop leaks. Both cheap to fix on schedule, expensive when they fail on a road trip.
- 05
Stage 1 & Stage 2 tuning
APR, IE, Cobb, or full custom on HP Tuners for the platform. Realistic gains, safe timing, proper datalogs — not a canned map and a handshake.
- 06
Supporting hardware
Downpipes, intakes, intercoolers, high-pressure fuel pumps for higher-output builds. Fitted properly, tuned to match.
Dealer-grade work.
Without the dealer wait-list.

Common questions,
straight answers.
How often should I service the DSG on a Golf R?+
VW says 60,000 km. We recommend 40,000–50,000 km on a tuned car — the mechatronic runs hotter and the fluid degrades faster under load. On a hard-driven Mk7/Mk7.5 with a Stage 2 tune, 30,000 km isn't unreasonable.
How much does a Golf R service cost in Melbourne?+
Depends on model year and interval. Basic oil services is the lightest interval; larger intervals with DSG fluid, brake fluid and plugs are higher. Send the rego and we'll send a written, line-itemised quote same business day.
Should I be worried about the chain tensioner on my Mk7?+
Early Mk7 EA888 gen3s had a known chain tensioner design issue. VW released an updated part. We inspect on service — if the older part is fitted and mileage is climbing, we recommend fitting the updated tensioner proactively. Much cheaper than a chain jump on the highway.
What's the safe power limit on a stock Golf R?+
Stage 1 (400–420 wkW area) on 98 or E-blend is safe on healthy stock hardware. Stage 2 with downpipe pushes into the 450–480 wkW range. Beyond that you're into HPFP upgrades, port injection and rods territory — talk to us about goals before spending.
Can I keep my warranty and still tune?+
A flash tune is detectable by VW and will affect powertrain warranty. Some tuning platforms allow returning to stock before dealer visits — we're honest about the risks before we tune anything.
Where are you located?+
