What we do

Every service, every job —
done properly.

Manufacturer-spec intervals, dealer-level diagnostics and OEM-grade parts. Every service is quoted in writing against your VIN before work begins, with a clear, line-itemised breakdown.

  • 01

    Pre-tune health check

Full PIWIS scan across every module, live data reviewed, service history, plug and fluid condition checked, cooling and charge-air system inspected before anything is written.

  • 02

    Engine calibration

Conservative, well-margined calibration on supported turbocharged platforms, written for your fuel and hardware, with the stock file retained.

  • 03

    PDK calibration

Where supported, shift speed, firmness and clamping behaviour adjusted to suit the engine file. Quoted separately and always optional.

  • 04

    Intake & exhaust hardware

Hardware fitted and accounted for in the calibration, with sealing, fitment and post-fitment behaviour verified on the road.

  • 05

    Cooling review

Track-used cars get oil, coolant and intake air temperature logged before targets are set — the limiting factor on a hot Melbourne day.

  • 06

    Plugs & supporting parts

Plug condition and heat range, charge pipes and cooling-related hardware reviewed as part of the package rather than added later.

  • 07

    Carbon cleaning where indicated

Direct-injection intake deposits build quietly on these engines. Borescoped first, cleaned only where findings support it.

  • 08

    Servicing alongside calibration

Scheduled servicing, PDK fluid, brake fluid and mechanical repairs carried out in the same workshop that holds your calibration file.

Why Apex

Dealer-grade work.
Without the dealer wait-list.

  • 01

    Porsche work with PIWIS

Manufacturer-level diagnostics for live data, guided functions and adaptations, so calibration decisions rest on real data.

  • 02

    Conservative by default

These are expensive engines. We aim for a strong, well-margined result that survives Melbourne summer traffic and track days, not a headline figure.

  • 03

    Naturally aspirated cars handled honestly

On GT3, GT4 and older naturally aspirated cars there is little calibration gain to be had. We say so rather than selling a flash for the sake of it.

  • 04

    Mechanical condition first

Cooling, plugs, intake deposits and fluid condition assessed before any power target is discussed.

  • 05

    External dyno access

No in-house dyno. Dyno verification arranged through trusted external facilities where the work genuinely calls for it.

  • 06

    Honest about warranty

A flash calibration is detectable by Porsche and affects the powertrain portion of manufacturer warranty. We explain the position before anything is written.

Deep dive

Independent Porsche tuning in Melbourne

Apex Performance Tuning provides Porsche calibration and performance hardware work from its Wantirna South workshop for owners across Melbourne's eastern and south-eastern suburbs.

Calibration gains on Porsche are platform-dependent. Turbocharged engines respond meaningfully; naturally aspirated GT cars generally do not, and we would rather tell you that than write a file for the sake of an invoice. Everything starts with a PIWIS scan, an inspection and a baseline log.

Apex is an independent specialist workshop and is not affiliated with or authorised by Porsche Cars Australia.

Porsche platforms and what calibration actually offers

The honest split is turbocharged versus naturally aspirated. Boost control gives a calibration something to work with; a naturally aspirated engine simply does not have the same headroom.

  • 9A2 turbo flat-six

991.2 and 992 Carrera and Turbo. The strongest response of the range, with cooling and fuel quality setting sensible limits.

  • 718 turbo flat-four

718 Boxster and Cayman. Meaningful mid-range improvement, with intake temperature behaviour worth logging.

  • Macan turbo petrol

Macan, S, GTS and Turbo. Family-car brief: mid-range response and drivability over peak output.

  • Cayenne turbo petrol

Assessed individually by engine and model year, with cooling and transmission condition reviewed first.

  • 9A1 / MA1 naturally aspirated

997.2, 991.1, Boxster and Cayman. Limited calibration gain. Hardware, maintenance and intake condition matter more.

  • GT3, GT4 and track cars

We focus on maintenance, cooling, fluids and hardware rather than promising calibration gains that are not there.

Cooling, fuel and the Melbourne summer question

Most Porsche calibration limits here are thermal rather than mechanical. A car that pulls cleanly on a cool morning can behave very differently on a 38-degree day in stationary traffic, or on lap four at a circuit.

So we log oil, coolant and intake air temperatures as part of the assessment and set targets that hold up in the worst conditions the car will actually see. Fuel is the other input: a file written for 98 RON is not the same as one written for an E-blend, and we do not pretend otherwise.

The result is a calibration that is strong where you use it, verified in data, documented with an itemised invoice, and quoted in writing against your VIN before work begins.

Booking Porsche calibration work from across Melbourne

We are at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152, minutes from EastLink and the M1, which makes us a practical drop-off for owners across Knox, Ringwood, Glen Waverley, Wheelers Hill, Box Hill, Camberwell, Doncaster, Toorak, Brighton and the wider eastern and south-eastern suburbs.

Send your registration or VIN, transmission type, existing modifications, the fuel you intend to run and how the car is used. We confirm what is genuinely available for your specific vehicle and quote it in writing against the VIN with a line-itemised breakdown before anything is booked.

Apex does not have an in-house dyno. Dyno testing is arranged through trusted external facilities where it is genuinely required for calibration or verification work. Vehicle pickup and drop-off may be available by prior arrangement, subject to location and availability. We do not offer loan cars.

Questions

Common questions,
straight answers.

Where can I get my Porsche tuned in Melbourne?+

At Apex Performance Tuning, Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — an independent specialist workshop working on Porsche platforms for owners across Melbourne's eastern and south-eastern suburbs. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm, call 0483 939 216.

Which Porsche models respond to tuning?+

Turbocharged platforms — the 9A2 flat-six in 991.2 and 992 Carrera and Turbo models, the 718 flat-four, and Macan and Cayenne turbo petrol engines. Naturally aspirated cars have far less to gain, and we say so before quoting.

Is there any point tuning a GT3 or GT4?+

Generally no. These are naturally aspirated engines already calibrated close to their limit. Maintenance, cooling, fluids and hardware are where the meaningful work is, and we would rather do that than sell you a flash.

Can the PDK be calibrated?+

On supported platforms, yes. PDK calibration covers shift speed, firmness and clamping behaviour, is quoted separately from engine calibration, and is always optional.

Will a tune cause heat problems in summer?+

That is exactly what the logging is for. We record oil, coolant and intake air temperatures during assessment and set targets that hold up in hot traffic and on track, rather than tuning to a single cool-morning pull.

Is the original calibration retained?+

Yes. The stock file is retained, so the vehicle can be returned to standard calibration where that is required — for a Porsche Centre visit, for example.

What information do you need before quoting?+

Model, year and VIN, transmission type, existing modifications, the fuel you intend to run and how the car is used. We scan on PIWIS, inspect the car and record a baseline log before confirming a written package.

Can you service my Porsche as well?+

Yes. Scheduled servicing, PDK and brake fluid, carbon cleaning where indicated, diagnostics and mechanical repairs are carried out in the same workshop, documented with photo or video evidence and an itemised invoice.

Is dyno testing available?+

Apex does not have an in-house dyno. Dyno testing can be arranged through trusted external dyno facilities where it is required for calibration or verification work, by prior arrangement.

Will tuning affect my Porsche Cars Australia warranty?+

A flash calibration is detectable by Porsche Cars Australia and will affect the powertrain portion of manufacturer warranty. Some platforms allow returning the vehicle to a stock file before a dealer visit. We explain the position honestly before any calibration is carried out.

Is Apex a Porsche Cars Australia dealership?+

No. Apex Performance Tuning is an independent workshop at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 and is not affiliated with or authorised by Porsche Cars Australia.

Where are you located?+

Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — easy from EastLink, the M1 and Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm. Call 0483 939 216 to book.
