What we do

Every service, every job —
done properly.

Manufacturer-spec intervals, dealer-level diagnostics and OEM-grade parts. Every service is quoted in writing against your VIN before work begins, with a clear, line-itemised breakdown.

  • 01

    Pre-tune health check

Full ODIS scan across every module, live data and fuel trims reviewed, service history, plug and fluid condition checked, intake and charge-air system inspected.

  • 02

    Engine calibration

Written for the fuel you actually run and the hardware fitted, with timing, boost control and fuel-system headroom reviewed in logs and the stock file retained.

  • 03

    S tronic / DSG calibration

DQ250, DQ381 and DL501 calibration where supported — shift speed, clamping pressure and launch behaviour matched to the engine file.

  • 04

    Intake & intercooling

Intake systems and upgraded intercoolers fitted where a target needs them, with intake air temperature behaviour verified in logs afterwards.

  • 05

    Exhaust & downpipes

Downpipe and exhaust hardware fitted with the calibration adjusted for flow, and emissions-related considerations discussed before booking.

  • 06

    Fuel system for higher targets

High-pressure pump and port-injection considerations reviewed honestly before a high-output target or E-blend calibration is agreed.

  • 07

    Carbon cleaning where indicated

Direct-injection intake deposits cost airflow exactly where a calibration relies on it. Borescoped first, cleaned only where findings support it.

  • 08

    Servicing alongside calibration

Scheduled servicing, DSG and Haldex fluid, plugs and mechanical repairs carried out in the same workshop that holds your calibration file.

Why Apex

Dealer-grade work.
Without the dealer wait-list.

  • 01

    VAG platforms are daily work

EA888 and 2.5 TFSI cars are in this workshop constantly for servicing, DSG work, carbon cleaning and calibration — the same technicians see the whole picture.

  • 02

    ODIS-level diagnostics

Manufacturer-level VAG diagnostics for live data, guided functions and adaptations, so a calibration is judged on real data rather than feel.

  • 03

    Mechanical condition first

Chain tensioner, PCV, intake deposits and cooling condition get assessed before power targets are discussed.

  • 04

Gearbox treated as part of the job

A DSG or S tronic that is due for fluid, or unhappy under load, is addressed rather than ignored because the engine file made numbers.

  • 05

    External dyno access

No in-house dyno. Dyno testing arranged through trusted external facilities where genuinely required for calibration or verification.

  • 06

    Honest about warranty

A flash calibration is detectable by Audi and affects the powertrain portion of manufacturer warranty. We explain that before anything is written.

Deep dive

Independent Audi tuning in Melbourne

Apex Performance Tuning provides Audi calibration and performance hardware work from its Wantirna South workshop for owners throughout Melbourne's eastern and south-eastern suburbs.

What is genuinely available depends on the engine family, transmission, model year, fuel and the mechanical condition of the car. A healthy EA888 has a well-understood calibration pathway; a 2.5 TFSI chasing a high target has a fuel-system conversation attached; an older direct-injection engine with heavy intake deposits needs that addressed before a file will behave.

Apex is an independent specialist workshop and is not affiliated with or authorised by Audi Australia.

Audi engine families we calibrate

The VAG range shares architecture widely, which is an advantage: the same platform knowledge applies across Audi, Volkswagen, Škoda and CUPRA equivalents.

  • EA888 (gen1–gen4)

S3, A3, A4, A5, Q3, Q5, TT. The most commonly calibrated family here, usually alongside plugs, PCV and DSG service.

  • EA113 2.0 TFSI

8P S3 and early TT. Older direct injection where intake deposits and chain tensioner condition are assessed first.

  • EA855 2.5 TFSI

RS3 and TT RS. Strong platform with a clear hardware progression; fuel system and intercooling decide the ceiling.

  • 3.0 TFSI supercharged (EA837)

S4, S5, Q5, A6, A7. Pulley, cooling and intake considerations dominate the conversation.

  • 3.0 TFSI turbo (B9)

Later S4, S5 and A6. Different hardware and thermal behaviour to the supercharged cars, assessed separately.

  • 4.2 FSI V8 and 5.2 FSI V10

RS4, RS5, R8. Naturally aspirated cars where hardware and mechanical condition, not boost, determine what is realistic.

Why the gearbox and the intake decide your result

On a DSG or S tronic Audi, the transmission is part of the power delivery, not a separate topic. Fluid condition, clamping pressure and torque limiters all influence how a calibration feels, and a gearbox overdue for service will make a good engine file feel worse than it is.

The other decider on direct-injection Audis is the intake tract. Carbon deposits restrict airflow exactly where a calibration relies on it, so a car with a rough cold start, slipping economy or intermittent misfire codes gets borescoped before it gets a bigger target.

We look at both as part of the assessment, and we say honestly when servicing or an intake clean should come before calibration rather than after it.

Booking Audi calibration work from across Melbourne

We are at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152, minutes from EastLink and the M1, which makes us a practical drop-off for owners across Knox, Ringwood, Glen Waverley, Wheelers Hill, Box Hill, Camberwell, Doncaster, Toorak, Brighton and the wider eastern and south-eastern suburbs.

Send your registration or VIN, transmission type, existing modifications, the fuel you intend to run and how the car is used. We confirm what is genuinely available for your specific vehicle and quote it in writing against the VIN with a line-itemised breakdown before anything is booked.

Apex does not have an in-house dyno. Dyno testing is arranged through trusted external facilities where it is genuinely required for calibration or verification work. Vehicle pickup and drop-off may be available by prior arrangement, subject to location and availability. We do not offer loan cars.

Questions

Common questions,
straight answers.

Where can I get my Audi tuned in Melbourne?+

At Apex Performance Tuning, Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — an independent specialist workshop calibrating Audi platforms for owners across Melbourne's eastern and south-eastern suburbs. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm, call 0483 939 216.

Which Audi engines can Apex calibrate?+

EA888 across all generations, EA113 2.0 TFSI, EA855 2.5 TFSI in RS3 and TT RS, supercharged EA837 and later turbocharged 3.0 TFSI V6s, the 4.2 FSI V8 and EA211 engines. Availability depends on ECU type, model year and existing modifications, confirmed from the VIN.

Can the DSG or S tronic be calibrated too?+

On supported DQ250, DQ381 and DL501 vehicles, yes. Transmission calibration covers shift speed, clamping pressure and launch behaviour, and it is quoted separately from engine calibration.

Do I need a bigger fuel system?+

Only for higher targets or E-blend calibrations on certain platforms. On a stock-hardware first-step calibration it is usually not required. We review fuel-system headroom in logs before agreeing to a target rather than afterwards.

Should I carbon clean before tuning?+

If the engine is direct injection with high kilometres or symptoms like a rough cold start, hesitation or slipping economy, we borescope first. Restricted intake ports cost airflow where a calibration depends on it, so cleaning sometimes belongs before the tune.

Will tuning affect my Audi's service history or log book?+

Servicing is documented with photo or video evidence, a completed service and inspection sheet and an itemised invoice, and the physical service book is stamped where applicable. Apex does not update manufacturer-controlled digital service-history systems.

What information do you need before quoting?+

Model, year and VIN, transmission type, existing modifications, the fuel you intend to run and how the car is used. We scan the car on ODIS, inspect it and log a baseline before confirming a written package.

Can you service my Audi as well as tune it?+

Yes. Scheduled servicing, DSG and Haldex fluid, carbon cleaning where indicated, diagnostics and mechanical repairs are carried out in the same workshop.

Is dyno testing available?+

Apex does not have an in-house dyno. Dyno testing can be arranged through trusted external dyno facilities where it is required for calibration or verification work, by prior arrangement.

Will tuning affect my Audi Australia warranty?+

A flash calibration is detectable by Audi Australia and will affect the powertrain portion of manufacturer warranty. Some platforms allow returning the vehicle to a stock file before a dealer visit. We explain the position honestly before any calibration is carried out.

Is Apex a Audi Australia dealership?+

No. Apex Performance Tuning is an independent workshop at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 and is not affiliated with or authorised by Audi Australia.

Where are you located?+

Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — easy from EastLink, the M1 and Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm. Call 0483 939 216 to book.
