Can the G81 M3 Touring be tuned in Australia?+
Yes. Apex Performance Tuning calibrates G81 M3 Touring vehicles at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152, subject to model year and ECU status. We confirm the available pathway from your VIN before quoting.
Does the G81 need an ECU unlock?+
Usually. G81 production sits in the locked-S58 period, so an unlock step is generally required before a flash calibration can be written. We verify it against your specific VIN rather than assuming.
Is transmission calibration available on the M3 Touring?+
Yes. Every Australian G81 is a Competition xDrive with the ZF 8HP M Steptronic transmission, so transmission calibration for shift speed, firmness and clamping pressure is available and quoted separately.
Is tuning a Touring different to a G80 sedan?+
The engine approach is the same, but the wagon carries more weight and usually does more traffic and freeway work. We log thermal behaviour more carefully and keep sensible margin rather than chasing a peak number.
Does xDrive limit what can be done?+
No, but it does influence targets. Raising torque loads the transfer case and driveline, so we review drivetrain condition and set targets the whole car can live with.
What supporting hardware might be required?+
A conservative calibration on a healthy stock car typically needs only correct-condition plugs and fluids. Higher targets, E-blend fuel or repeated hard use in hot weather bring intake, cooling, charge-pipe and plug items into the conversation, assessed on the vehicle.
What information do you need before quoting?+
Model year and VIN, current ECU status, existing modifications, the fuel you intend to run and how the car is used. We scan, inspect and log the car before confirming a written package.
Can you service the Touring as well?+
Yes. Scheduled servicing, transmission and brake fluid, plugs and mechanical repairs are carried out in the same workshop, with photo or video evidence, a completed inspection sheet and an itemised invoice.
Is dyno testing available?+
Apex does not have an in-house dyno. Dyno testing can be arranged through trusted external dyno facilities where it is required for calibration or verification work, by prior arrangement.
Will tuning affect my BMW warranty?+
A flash calibration is detectable by BMW and will affect the powertrain portion of manufacturer warranty. Some platforms allow returning the vehicle to a stock file before a dealer visit. We explain the position honestly before any calibration is carried out.
Is Apex a BMW dealership?+
No. Apex Performance Tuning is an independent workshop at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 and is not affiliated with or authorised by BMW.
