Where can I tune a BMW G87 M2 in Melbourne?+
At Apex Performance Tuning, Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — an independent performance workshop calibrating S58 vehicles for owners across Melbourne's eastern and south-eastern suburbs. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm, call 0483 939 216.
Does the G87 M2 need an ECU unlock?+
Yes, in general. G87 S58 control units are locked, so an unlock step is required before a flash calibration can be written. We confirm the position for your exact VIN before quoting.
Can a manual G87 M2 be tuned?+
Yes. A manual car is an engine-calibration job — there is no transmission file. We review clutch and driveline condition before raising torque, particularly on cars that see launches or track use.
Is transmission calibration worth it on an automatic M2?+
Many owners find the shift behaviour change more noticeable day to day than the power change. It is a separate file covering shift speed, firmness and clamping pressure, and it can be done on its own.
Does the M2 have enough cooling for a tune?+
That depends on how the car is used. For road use with occasional spirited driving, a well-margined calibration is generally fine on stock cooling. For repeat track sessions in hot weather we log oil, coolant and intake air temperatures first and discuss cooling hardware honestly.
What supporting hardware might my M2 need?+
Depends on the target, fuel and use. Stock hardware with healthy plugs and fluids suits a conservative calibration. Higher targets, E-blend fuel or sustained track use bring intake, cooling, charge-pipe and plug considerations in, assessed on the vehicle.
What information do you need before quoting?+
Model year and VIN, transmission type, existing modifications, the fuel you intend to run and how the car is used. We scan, inspect and log the car before confirming a written package.
Can you service the M2 as well as tune it?+
Yes. Scheduled servicing, transmission and brake fluid, plugs and mechanical repairs are carried out in the same workshop, documented with photo or video evidence, a completed inspection sheet and an itemised invoice.
Is dyno testing available?+
Apex does not have an in-house dyno. Dyno testing can be arranged through trusted external dyno facilities where it is required for calibration or verification work, by prior arrangement.
Will tuning affect my BMW warranty?+
A flash calibration is detectable by BMW and will affect the powertrain portion of manufacturer warranty. Some platforms allow returning the vehicle to a stock file before a dealer visit. We explain the position honestly before any calibration is carried out.
Is Apex a BMW dealership?+
No. Apex Performance Tuning is an independent workshop at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 and is not affiliated with or authorised by BMW.
