Inside the Audi RS6.
The C7 and C8 RS6 share the 4.0 TFSI V8 biturbo — the same base engine (with variants) in RS7, S6, S7, S8 and RSQ8. It's a robust engine mechanically, but the cooling architecture is stressed by both the packaging (two turbos nestled in the V) and the weight of the car. Thermostat housing, water pump, and coolant lines are the items to watch — we inspect every service.
ZF 8HP eight-speed on the RS6 is uprated for the torque, but the fluid service story is the same as every 8HP — 80–100k km, correct spec, factory fill procedure. Ignoring it on a 700+ Nm wagon is an expensive mistake.
Stage 1 flash gains on 4.0 TFSI are substantial — often 100–150+ hp with correct calibration. Stage 2 is possible but wants thought on cooling and downpipes given the car's weight. We calibrate to actual hardware, datalog under load, and store backup files. Warranty is a real conversation on late C8 cars.
