Inside the Mercedes-AMG E63.
The W212 E63 (M157 5.5 V8 biturbo) shares its base architecture with the W204 C63 507, S63 and CLS63. The W213 E63 stepped to M177 4.0 V8 biturbo — same base as C63 and GT, tuned for the E-class chassis. Both are hard-worked engines with specific weak points: turbo oil-feed lines, coolant lines, expansion tank, and (on M157) a specific spark plug interval that's routinely ignored.
MCT (W212) and 9G-tronic (W213) both need fluid on interval — 80–100k km, correct spec, factory fill procedure. A 700 hp wagon on 'lifetime fluid' is a mechanical joke.
Airmatic air suspension components fail on high-km E63s — a heavy V8 wagon wears struts and airbags. Diagnosed properly, repaired with OEM or specialist suppliers. Not a job to defer.
