What we do

Every service, every job —
done properly.

Manufacturer-spec intervals, dealer-level diagnostics and OEM-grade parts. Every service is quoted in writing against your VIN before work begins, with a clear, line-itemised breakdown.

  • 01

    Factory-spec oil & filters

The right oil grade and OEM filter for your VIN — LL-01, LL-04, 507.00, 229.5, A40 as required. No universal 5W-30.

  • 02

Service reset & log book stamp

Dealer-level scan tools reset the correct service counter (ISTA, ODIS, Xentry, PIWIS). Physical log book stamped where applicable, with a completed service and inspection sheet and an itemised invoice.

  • 03

Brake fluid & coolant on interval

Not optional. Brake fluid every 2 years, coolant on manufacturer interval — done properly with correct spec fluids, not deferred to sell you another visit.

  • 04

    Transmission & DSG service

DSG/DCT/ZF 8HP fluid changes on interval — regardless of any 'lifetime fluid' myth. Correct fluid, correct fill procedure.

  • 05

    Multi-point inspection

Suspension, brakes, tyres, hoses, belts, drivetrain — photographed on the hoist. Anything needing attention quoted before we touch it.

  • 06

    Extended-warranty compatible

We provide invoices and service records that satisfy manufacturer and third-party extended-warranty requirements.

Why Apex

    Dealer-level tooling

ISTA, ODIS, Xentry, PIWIS — the same diagnostic platforms your dealer runs. Correct scan tools, correct torque specs, correct fluids.

  • 03

    Warranty protected

Australian Consumer Law protects your statutory warranty when serviced at a qualified independent workshop. We stamp your log book every visit.

  • 04

    Independent, not dealer

Dealer-level tooling and the same standard of work, with a written quote before anything begins.

  • 05

    OEM parts on request

Genuine parts on request — otherwise reputable OE-quality or OEM-equivalent parts (Bosch, Mahle, NGK, Pierburg, ZF) that meet the required specification. Every part line-itemised.

  • 06

    Photos & written quotes

Every worn part photographed on the hoist. Extras quoted in writing and approved before we touch them.

Deep dive

What 'log book service' actually means.

A manufacturer log book service isn't just an oil change. It's a defined interval — either kilometres or time — during which a specific list of items must be inspected, replaced, or renewed to keep the car in factory-approved mechanical condition. The list is different for every manufacturer, every engine and every model year.

BMW's Condition Based Service (CBS), Audi/VW's LongLife service interval, Mercedes-Benz's Service A/B and Porsche's fixed-interval schedule all define exactly what has to happen and when. We follow the actual factory schedule via dealer-level scan tools — ISTA, ODIS, Xentry, PIWIS — not a generic 'oil and filter every 10k km' regime.

Missing an item — deferred brake fluid, deferred coolant, deferred DSG service, deferred spark plugs — is how expensive later failures happen. We do the whole schedule, we photograph anything we find, and where applicable the physical service book is stamped. As an independent workshop we do not write to manufacturer-controlled digital service-history systems, so you also receive a completed service and inspection sheet, relevant photo and video evidence, and an itemised invoice.

The 'lifetime fluid' myth.

For a period in the late 2000s and 2010s, several manufacturers marketed transmission fluid, coolant and even brake fluid as 'lifetime fill'. The field data disagrees. Every DSG, ZF 8HP and MCT we see with delayed shifts, judder or fault codes has either never had its fluid changed, or has been changed with the wrong spec.

Fluids degrade. Additive packages break down. Metal wear accumulates. Temperature cycling breaks the polymer chains that give the fluid its shear stability. A modern automatic gearbox is an expensive unit; the fluid service that protects it is a small fraction of that. The maths is not close.

  • Engine oil

5,000–15,000 km depending on manufacturer spec, driving pattern and fuel used. LongLife intervals only apply when the car has been driven within LongLife parameters.

  • Brake fluid

Every 2 years, without exception. Hygroscopic — absorbs water — and boils at a lower temperature over time. Non-negotiable.

  • Coolant

Manufacturer-specific — usually 4–7 years. Not 'lifetime'. Correct spec matters — VW G13, BMW HT-12, Mercedes MB 325.5.

  • DSG / DCT / auto fluid

60,000–100,000 km depending on unit. Every DSG in the workshop with problems has had its fluid ignored.

  • Diff & transfer case

Manufacturer interval, usually 60–100k km. Skipped on almost every used European car we see.

  • Power steering / haldex

Haldex controller (Quattro/4Motion) — 40k km. Almost universally skipped.

How our log book service protects your warranty.

Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer cannot void your statutory warranty because you serviced at an independent workshop — provided the service was performed to manufacturer specification, using approved parts, by qualified technicians. That is exactly the standard we work to.

We use manufacturer-spec fluids (VW 508.00, BMW LL-01/LL-04, Mercedes 229.5, Porsche C40) and OEM or reputable OE-quality parts that meet the required specification (Bosch, Mahle, NGK, Pierburg, ZF, LuK). Where applicable the physical service book is stamped, and every service is documented with a completed inspection sheet, relevant inspection evidence and an itemised invoice. When the car goes back to the dealer for a warranty claim, that documentation stands up.

Booking from Ashburton.

The workshop is in Wantirna South, VIC 3152 — approximately 18 minutes from Ashburton (3147). Most clients drop the car in the morning and arrange their own transport back to work or home. Send your rego or VIN through the quote form or call 0483 939 216 — we come back with a written, line-itemised quote same business day.

Same-day work where possible. Anything requiring parts on order gets a realistic in-and-out timeline before you book. No 'we'll let you know' — you get a scheduled collection day.
