What we do

Every service, every job —
done properly.

Manufacturer-spec intervals, dealer-level diagnostics and OEM-grade parts. Every service is quoted in writing against your VIN before work begins, with a clear, line-itemised breakdown.

  • 01

    Log book service

BMW factory-spec service to manufacturer intervals. Correct oil, correct filters, service reset via ISTA (dealer-level), log book stamped.

  • 02

    Diagnostics & fault-finding

ISTA (dealer-level) for dealer-level scanning. Every module read, stored faults logged, live-data analysed — we find the real problem, not the easy one to sell.

  • 03

    Repairs & maintenance

From coolant leaks and worn suspension to timing chain guides, turbo work and gearbox rebuilds. Diagnosed properly, quoted upfront, fixed to factory standard.

  • 04

    Brake fluid & coolant

Not optional maintenance — brake fluid every 2 years, coolant on manufacturer interval. Real fluid changes done properly.

  • 05

    Performance & tuning

Flash tuning where appropriate on N20, N54, N55, B48, B58, S55, S58 platforms. Supporting hardware installed correctly and calibration matched to the parts.

  • 06

    Pre-purchase inspections

Buying used in Safety Beach or nearby? On-hoist inspection, full diagnostic scan, road test and a same-day written report before you sign.

Why Apex

    Dealer-level equipment

ISTA (dealer-level), correct scan tools, factory torque specs. We're set up to service these cars the way the manufacturer intended.

  • 04

    Warranty preserved

We service to BMW factory specification and stamp your log book — Australian Consumer Law protects your statutory warranty when serviced properly at a qualified independent workshop.

  • 05

    Independent, not dealer

Dealer-level tooling and factory-spec parts, with the attention your specific car actually needs — and a written quote before anything starts.

Genuine BMW parts on request; otherwise reputable OE-quality or OEM-equivalent parts (Bosch, Mahle, NGK, Pierburg) that meet the required specification.

Deep dive

The BMW platforms we know cold.

BMW's inline-six turbo lineage — N54, N55, B58 — plus the M-division S-motors (S55, S58, S63) make up the majority of the enthusiast BMWs on Melbourne roads. Each has a distinct maintenance profile, distinct weak points, and a distinct set of correct fixes. A generalist workshop treats them the same. We don't.

N54 is the tuner's inline-six — huge headroom, but the HPFP, injectors and walnut-blast intervals need proper attention. N55 is more refined but has its own charge-pipe and oil-filter-housing weak points. B58 is arguably the best mass-produced modern petrol engine — as long as its cooling and ZF 8HP fluid are respected. S55 and S58 add M-specific cooling stress and specific charge-pipe failures we replace with aluminium as a matter of course.

Every service starts with a full ISTA scan — every module, stored and pending faults, freeze-frame data. Then live-data logging under load where a fault is present. Only then do we quote. That's the difference between a service that fixes the actual complaint and a service that clears a code and hopes.

BMW servicing for Safety Beach owners.

The workshop is at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — about 65 minutes from Safety Beach (3936) depending on traffic. Safety Beach sits alongside Dromana, Mount Martha, McCrae in the 3936 catchment, and owners from all of them use the workshop.

Most Safety Beach owners book a day ahead, drop the car in the morning and arrange their own transport onward; there is a customer area if you would rather wait. Pickup and drop-off is available by prior arrangement, subject to location and availability — we do not offer loan cars.

Routine servicing is usually same-day. Larger work — transmission servicing, timing-system repairs, cooling repairs, intake cleaning or turbo work — is quoted with a realistic in-and-out timeline before we start, so you can plan around it.

BMW weak points we check by default.

Every BMW service includes a proper multi-point inspection — not a tickbox sheet. These are the platform-specific items we look at as a matter of course, photographed on the hoist and quoted only if action is genuinely needed:

  • Charge pipe (N55, S55)

OEM plastic charge pipe fails around 60-100k km. We fit aluminium with new clamps — usually an afternoon job.

  • Oil filter housing gasket

N54/N55 leak here as a rule, not an exception. Correct gasket, correct torque, no repeat leak.

  • Expansion tank (S55, S58, S63)

M-division cooling weak point. Inspected every service — replaced before it cracks, not after.

  • Water pump & thermostat

N54/N55 electric water pump has a service life. Proactive replacement is materially cheaper than a roadside failure.

  • VANOS solenoids

Rough idle and correlation faults — often solenoids, sometimes cam adjusters. Diagnosed in live data, not guessed.

  • ZF 8HP fluid

'Lifetime fluid' isn't a thing on a modern BMW. Fluid, pan and filter every 80–100k km.

Tuning a BMW properly.

MHD, bootmod3, JB4 and bench-flash options — every major BMW tuning platform is supported. Which platform is correct depends on the engine, the year, the intended supporting mods, and whether you want dealer-mode return before a service visit. We're honest about warranty implications before we tune anything.

A Stage 1 flash on N55, S55, S58, B58 or S63 typically returns 60–150 hp with correct calibration on 98 or E-blend. We datalog every tune — knock detection, trims, boost, timing, AFR — under load before you leave. Backup files are stored. No guessing at fuel maps and no 'universal' Stage 1 files.

How a first visit works.

Send your rego or VIN through the quote form or call 0483 939 216. We look up your car's build spec, come back with a written, line-itemised quote — usually the same business day. No surprises, no 'we opened it up and now you need more'.

Drop the car in the morning, or book it a few days ahead. On arrival we do a full ISTA scan first — every module, stored and pending faults — before any spanner touches the car. If we find anything beyond the original job, we photograph it, quote it in writing, and only proceed with your written approval.

You leave with a stamped log book (where applicable), a completed service and inspection sheet, and a plain-English summary of what we did and what to expect at the next interval.

Questions

Common questions,
straight answers.

Is Apex actually near Safety Beach?+

Our workshop is in Wantirna South (65 minutes from Safety Beach). Most of our Safety Beach clients drop the car in the morning and either wait or arrange transport back to work — the drive is quick and we're set up for a wide catchment across Melbourne's east.

How much does a BMW service cost?+

Depends on model, year and interval. Send us your rego or VIN and we'll come back with a written, line-itemised quote based on your vehicle, VIN and required service scope — usually same business day.

Will independent service void my BMW warranty?+

No. Australian Consumer Law protects your statutory warranty when your BMW is serviced at a qualified independent workshop using correct-specification parts and manufacturer procedures. We follow the manufacturer schedule and, where applicable, stamp the physical service book.

Do you use genuine BMW parts?+

Genuine OEM on request — just say so when booking. Otherwise we fit reputable OE-quality or OEM-equivalent parts (Bosch, Mahle, NGK, Pierburg, ZF where applicable) that meet the required factory specification. Every part is line-itemised on your invoice.

What documentation do I get?+

Where applicable, the physical service book is stamped. Every completed service is supported by an itemised invoice, completed service and inspection sheet and relevant photo/video evidence. We do not write to manufacturer-controlled service-history systems.

Can I drop off in the morning?+

Yes — most Safety Beach clients drop the car and arrange their own transport back to work. Some come from further out and wait in the customer area. Pickup and drop-off is available by prior arrangement, subject to location and availability; we do not offer loan cars.

Where exactly is the workshop?+

Apex Performance Tuning is at Unit 4/6 Woodbine Court, Wantirna South VIC 3152 — 65 minutes from Safety Beach. Easy from EastLink, the M1 and most of Melbourne's east and inner east. Call 0483 939 216 for booking.
